Segments
A Segment is a group of criteria used to narrow down your list of contacts. When applied to a campaign, the segment determines which contacts are eligible to receive messages.
Segments are powerful targeting tools that let you focus campaigns on highly specific groups of contacts, improving relevance and engagement.
Creating Segments
To create a new segment:
Click New Segment.
Enter a name for your segment.
Add conditions:
Click Add Condition.
Select a field (from default or custom contact fields).
Choose an operator (e.g., equals, contains, greater than).
Enter the value to match.
Repeat the process for as many conditions as needed.
Once complete, click Create Segment.
Matching Logic
Segments use AND logic.
This means all conditions must be true for a contact to match the segment.
To target contacts that meet either/or conditions, create two separate segments and add both to a campaign’s targeting.
Segment Actions
From the Actions menu (ellipsis button), you can:
Edit Segment – Update the name or conditions.
View Contacts – Preview which contacts belong to the segment.
Delete Segment – Permanently remove the segment.
You can also click Count to see how many contacts match the segment’s conditions before applying it to a campaign.
Best Practices
Keep segments focused — avoid overloading with too many conditions.
Use custom fields to create business-specific audience definitions.
Combine segments with categories and tags for even finer targeting.
Test segments with small sends first to validate performance.
